Improve Business Acumen:
Learning the “hard” skills truly can be hard. Strategy, market
segmentation, financial modeling, and “what-if” analysis
are all critical skills for effective decision making. EP courses and
simulations allow participants to learn and practice these skills in
a realistic environment which allows them to move “up the learning
curve” in
a risk-free, feedback-rich environment.
Understand the Tradeoffs:
In managing a business, managers must analyze challenging
business opportunities and evaluate the inherent risks, returns and
resource allocation to achieve performance metrics. We provide experiences
in which real-world consequences are reinforced through sophisticated
systems dynamics loops which link the longer term results (and often
subtle consequences) to the immediate day-to-day decisions that executives,
managers and supervisors make. The result is that participants get
a powerful lesson in the inherent trade-off and consequences of the
decisions and actions they take.
Tie the “Hard Stuff” to the “Soft Stuff”:
We’ve all heard that “the soft stuff IS the hard stuff”.
Well, actually, they are both hard – and it’s even harder
to tie them together. The “softer skills” of leadership,
communication and teamwork are critical to reaching and implementing
effective business decisions. Participants learn that BOTH hard skills
and soft skills are necessary for performance – the results are
only as good as the lower common denominator.
How to Build on the Ideas and Experience
of Others – Teamwork:
While we all would like for “one plus one to equal three”,
in reality “one plus one often equals less than two”. Poor
teamwork is devastating to team results and often results in lost ideas,
ignoring experience, and squandered opportunities. Many people do not
have the experience or tools to work collaboratively in teams, make decisions
which address the needs of all the represented constituencies or to build
a group of people into a highly aligned, customer oriented, and highly
productive team. EP learning events give a unique opportunity to learn
these skills, and improve the performance level of work-place teams.
